Diagnostic mammogram scheduled after ultrasound and need surgery, growing fibroadenoma?
Hello!
I've been reading all your stories and it's comforting to know so many of us are going through this (as far as we arent alone).
I'm nervous because I had a biopsied fibroadenoma in 2020. They left a marker in it for a future mammogram.
I felt like it was growing and it's now showing (visible upper inner quadrant left breast)
It has indeed grown (was 2cm now 3cm).
They had said it would shrink or disappear previously.
Here's what gets weird. During the ultrasound 2 weeks ago the doctor all of a sudden said, "Why don't we schedule a surgery to just remove this?" She said" why don't we get it on the books in the next two weeks? "And then she said, "while we are at it, you might as well go next door and get a mammogram today and see if they have any walk-ins." I was like, Is there anything I should be worried about? She said "no. I just want to make sure that if i'm already in there doing surgery There's nothing else I need to get rid of. "
Then I went into the mammogram place and they said I was not able to do a walk-in appointment because after looking at the notes on my chart they would definitely need to do a diagnostic mammogram. Bi-rads 4b.
So that was scheduled for September 23rd. Now the mammogram place just called me tonight and said they wanted to schedule another ultrasound after the diagnostic mammogram and they also wanted to do both breasts. I was like I already got an ultrasound and that's why I'm going to you guys? And she said based on the notes the doctor wants to do another ultrasound here. What the heck guys? What is the deal? Have you had growing fibroadenoma?
Surgery to remove the stupid thing is on 10/9. I'm 38 with 4 kiddos 6-12. Soo obviously I'm freaking out. Anyone else have something similar?
