Transitioning from residential to commercial/Industrial
Hello, hope everyone is doing good today. I'm looking for some insight from those of you who have transitioned from residential to commercial and/or industrial. I'm just about to my one year mark working for a mainly new construction/residential service company. I absolutely love the trade and the work I do, and I've been fortunate enough to be paired with an awesome journeyman who's taught me a lot. It's been great so far and I'm acting as a sponge, learning how to do things to code and just learning everything I can, I'm really giving it my best and taking it seriously.
My initial plan is to get my residential journeyman card when I get my hours and get some experience running jobs with an apprentice for a while and then making a move to a company that does more commercial work, maybe once I hit my three year mark. I would eventually like to end up doing industrial work though, so my question to y'all, is it best to go through the different sectors of the trade like I plan to, residential>commercial>industrial?
For those of you who have experience, how was your experience and what would you recommend? I've been told residential would prepare me with the basics, so I assume the transition to commercial would be somewhat smooth. Likewise, will doing commercial prepare me for industrial, or would it be best to try to go straight from residential to industrial?
I know it's a bit long but thank you in advance, any insight or advice is greatly appreciated.
