DIP Milo - a sad update 💔

Hello everyone. I come bringing very sad news, and a post I hoped I would never have to make.

Recently I made a post here about my 2.5 year old ferret Milo’s potentially enlarged spleen, with a photo of the bruising on his belly. After several trips trying to find a vet that would even look at him, we found an emergency vet that could do the tests that he needed.

It turned out my worst fears were true. Milo had Lymphoma, and the bruising on his belly was a tumor in his intestinal wall that had hemorrhaged. All the way up until about 2 days ago, everything seemed normal with him— which really goes to show how stoic yet frail these creatures are. I’m going to miss him dearly, as will the rest of my family. He crossed the rainbow bridge at 3:30pm today, surrounded by his family and the many caring vets at Veterinary Emergency Group. I’m so grateful for their compassion and efficiency in getting him comfortable and giving him a proper sendoff.

Milo was such a beautiful and bright ferret, and it was impossible to stay mad at him whenever he’d get into anything. He was my french vanilla boy, my Baby Bilo. His light and spirit will live on in our memories.

I also want to thank everyone that responded to my previous post. It helped me prepare for what was to come and I will always appreciate you guys. Thank you.

The hammocks will be a little bit more empty tonight, and there have been and will be lots more tears, but he will return home soon, and rest alongside his late sister Millie. 💔
