Any MDs who fly? Suggestions of integrating flying into a medical career without it being just an expensive hobby.

Am a rural doc doing PPL.

Understand its best to clock >50 flight hrs per year to be safe / current? Owning a plane sounds expensive!

Wondering if there are any doctors / similar professionals who managed to integrate flying into their careers?

***EDIT**\*

I'm amazed at the enthusiasm and passion of pilots (as usual)

I should clarify that I am a RURAL Medicine FM Doctor (interest in Skin Cancer) in the AUSTRALIAN Desert... so paid sig lower than North American Docs unfortunately... won't be getting a Cirrus anytime soon... maybe Cessna 172 / Jabiru J230 / shared ownership

I do have fantasies of flying to small towns to do skin check / surgeries (flying becomes tax-deductible), or training in Anaesthesia / Retrieval Med for the same reason.
