Where is your home base?

I'm playing without mods. I prefer to have a settlement just for all the gear, crafting and followers. I used to use homebase but without supply lines and the loading time in and out was annoying. Moved to croup manor but all my followers are making annoying comments about how they hate being near water . Just wondering what you guys out there do :-)
