Ghoul update sadness

I’m level 470 ish I really enjoy the game but don’t have a friend group to play with, the ghoul update looks really cool but I don’t like the you can only try this once and that’s it. I don’t want to make another character and start at level 1 again I’m still trying to get the legendary perks upgraded on my main character is anyone else in the same boat as we want to swap to ghoul and not be locked out of it if we change our mind?
