Is it ok to simplify solos when they are too difficult ?

So I am a guitarist for 1 year now and I really want to do the Hotel California solo. Is it ok if I play it in a simplified version. For example, I sometimes replace full bends with the note above or there are fast pull of and hammer on that I don’t play.
