Should Artanis and your minion lose divine shield at the end of the turn?

I mean, for 7 mana, the card is giving you and your minion attack and divine shield for 2 mana each turn, so if you don't use your attack buff and choose not to attack, aren't you wasting the buff that the hero card gave you, which would also mean losing the divine shield that you cowardly chose not to use to attack?
