Notes Deleted Without Me Pressing Delete

Has anyone had this happen? I literally just typed a note a few hours ago and now all my notes are gone from my phone, I didn't press delete and my Notes app isn't even but 30 or 40 notes total maybe. This is really frustrating as I'm not sure what caused this, "recently deleted" isn't available either so idek. I didn't delete the notes app and reinstall it either.. I'm reading online that apparently you have to update your ios to the newest version in order to have certain apps work but im scared if I do that then I won't be able to recover the notes I lost.

Edit: I typed a word that I wrote in one of my notes a day or two ago and the note is coming up on my search bar on my home screen but when I click on the note it doesn't fully open and goes straight to the notes app where it still shows that none of my notes are apparently there
