Taking my Shahadah

Assalamualaikum Brother and Sisters,

I'm unsure of when I should take my Shahadah, Inshallah I can soon but I am very unsure, I'm living in foster care and was introduced to Islam by friends and going to a school with a very large Islamic community. I have started praying and implementing things slowly and have been thinking about when I should take my Shahadah. As mentioned I live in foster care, practising Islam isn't particularly to much of a problem per say but certain things like fasting during Ramadan and eating halal meats and other little things like that would probably be frowned upon in a way, as this subreddit is filled with many Muslims with vast amounts of knowledge (Mashallah), I feel this is the best place to get some advice and what I should do from here, any comments and insights would be greatly appreciated, if you also have any ideas on how I how I could move further into my journey with Islam that would also be great.
