Updated Kansas City Unemployment Figures | released November 01, 2023
Official unemployment figures for the Kansas City economy were updated today. Numbers for August have been finalized and preliminary figures for September have now been made available.
August
The unemployment rate increased to 3.4% in August. 27,220 positions were lost, and 24,533 workers left the labor force causing the unemployment rate increase. Nonfarm payrolls fell by 11,400. No individual sector saw significant employment changes.
September (preliminary)
The unemployment rate fell to 2.7% in September. 682 positions were added, and 8,142 workers left the labor force causing the unemployment rate decrease. The overall Nonfarm Payrolls figure did not change significantly. No individual sector saw significant employment changes.
