Custom Controller for dLive

I had this silly but maybe not so silly idea yesterday: To make a dLive more affordable, don’t buy a surface but instead make a custom controller in the style of the LV1 (16 fader waves fit controller, touchscreen, running the mixing station app on a Mac connected to the mix racks network input using the normal house CAT)

The mixing station is such an awesome app and can be very customised. I like it a lot!

My question is, has anyone ever tried this kind of setup before? Are there some points where you think this would be a really stupid idea? I would use is in conjunction with the dLive director app for some adjustments/settings because it is more accessible in the director. But I like the customisation und workflow of the mixing station.

For local IO at Front of house I thought on a small Dante IO box. (With primary and secondary, control network over the secondary)

Any thoughts?
