Yet another tuning question?

Hi there,

Live sound guy here that been trying to learn as much as I can about the alignment/tuning process. Felt like I had come a long way, being able to make awful systems sound half decent and workable, until last night I attended an EDM festival with a nice D&B J Rig (I'm usually working with Point Source, Mainly KV2 Audio) and I was shocked how smooth the response was. I saw at FOH roughly 35m it was measuring 101db(no clue the weighting or LAeq) on the front row I was able to have a conversation with the person next to me without shouting at that honestly just blew my mind.

So my question is how is this achievable? Is it purely due to the tilt down in the HF energy? What is the average guideline for tilt? And what are some tips to follow to achieve a similar result in any system? And finally I'm assuming a tuning like this only would apply well to EDM style music?

I have Bob McCarthy's book but I've not read it again since I've started to really get into sound systems theory. Thinking about it now I'm stupid for not reading that again now that I understand more 😅

If the dudes who did Beonix Festival in Cyprus this week are here then my hats off to you guys! Loved the whole production!
