Large Luxury Makeup collection storage
I have a makeup vanity in my bedroom, but I have pretty much always hated it. I am 6ft tall, and my legs are too long to fit under it, even with low chairs/stools. In addition to that, it really doesn’t hold much.
This next point is not to insult anyone on here, and a matter of my own taste. In searching for a vanity that is actually large enough to fit me and my makeup, I found that I really don’t like the style of any of them. It’s either the ikea Alex style, the impressions vanity, or over the top glam styles that just really aren’t me. At least until you get to the $5k USD price range… where there are some I really do like. The issue with that is, that’s a lot of money, and more than I want to spend right now. Plus, I feel at that price, it really should have every feature and function I could possibly want. And even at that price, they all trade one thing here for another thing there.
So I figure I’ll just wait it out, eventually the market will have something that caters to my needs and wants. And if not, I may eventually go the custom route.
In the meantime, I decided to simplify my life and use my home office area as my vanity station. My desk is actually large enough to fit a storage cabinet underneath, and I can still physically fit at my desk. The storage cabinet is completely hidden, so I really don’t care what it looks like. It holds the majority of my everyday makeup and small palettes.
On top of my desk, I have two small boxes of drawers. The first one holds my Natasha Denona mini palettes, and my lipsticks. The second one holds all of my single eyeshadows. A personal favorite item of mine. I don’t know what it is about them, but the satisfaction they bring me is immeasurable. My favorites are my Victoria Beckham lid lustres (mink, tea rose, honey, chiffon), chantecaille mermaid single shadows (they are kinda like a creamy to powder formula, and I have all of them), and Charlotte tilbury eyes to mesmerize cream shadows (I have most of them, faves are rose gold and amber gold).
Then, for my larger palettes, I have a little box that I just store my faves in. I do have more than this, but I really just wanted to keep my favorites all in one place. Natasha Denona is a top favorite of mine, so I have many of her palettes here, and then a random selection of other faves. This box also gets stored underneath my desk, and therefore remains hidden when not in use.
I feel like my desk can share its functionality between work and makeup, and it’s working out well for me. I can’t tell you how much I hated my actual vanity, so this has brought some joy back into my life around makeup.
