Privacy at the pharmacy when picking up meds

I regularly have to go pick up meds from the pharmacy and while waiting in line I hear lots of conversations between patients and the pharmacist that I think should be private. Last week I heard someone I know talking about the anxiety meds they are on and feel like I’ve violated their privacy knowing this about them. Also the pharmacy asks you for your address, so anyone else in line now knows where you live and what meds you have. I heard a guy once trying to get more meds because his had been stolen in a burglary and couldn’t help thinking they probably got the info right there at the pharmacy. Is this common practice in NZ?
