After weeks of searching, I finally found my "perfect" bag—but there's a catch. Shimoda Action X v2 25
I've been on the hunt for a backpack that ticks all the boxes for my needs. Here’s what I was looking for:
- Somewhat waterproof (I live in a cold, wet country)
- 25-30L size: Ideal for daily use and almost within the limit for under-seat on flights
- Two main compartments, easy to access
- Hooks for climbing gear (when I need it)
After tons of research, I narrowed it down to three options: the PRVKE 31, Shimoda Explore V2 30, and my final choice, the Shimoda Action X V2 25.
Why the Shimoda Action V2 25?
- Quick access to the top compartment without needing to open the roll-top (unlike the PRVKE)
- Compact but expandable from 25 to 32L... so it’s easier to look "smaller" when I want to bring it on a flight (unlike the Explore V2 30)
- Perfect blend of pockets, hooks, and compartments for my gear
Now, here’s the problem (and why I’m posting this): I don’t need the camera cube, but Shimoda only sells the Action V2 25 as a "starter kit" that includes it, adding €70 to the price from the 30L :// Both their US and EU stores only sell the 30L as a "bag only," while the 25L forces you to buy it bundled with the camera insert.
I’m not against spending on quality gear, but I’m not about to throw away €70 on something I’ll never use.
Has anyone managed to buy the Shimoda Action V2 25 without the camera cube? Or found any workaround for this? (I am in the EU)
