How were your Nparents when you had to start dealing with periods? Did they educate you about them?

I was never taught about periods. Thankfully my Mum did show me how to use a pad when I first started but never taught me about how often I need to change them. They always got the cheapest pads which didn’t work well for me, to small and would have to double up so I didn’t bleed through them as I got older. I’m glad they at least gave me something though. And they had no compassion when I was feeling sick or in pain. I wasn’t allowed to lay down as it was a general house hold rule that we weren’t allowed to lay down during the day and I still had to eat, even if it would come back up again and worsen my stomach pains. I only remember being given some medication once to settle my stomach down. Thankfully I didn’t have the mood swings, but I was also never taught that it can cause them. All my period knowledge, I learned from school and a book I borrowed from the library.
