some early qi2 findings with the s25 ultra (you really should buy a case that mentions supports qi2).
As someone that cares maybe a bit too much into charging devices and specs...was kinda excited and worried about this new 'standard' at least for me. Mom has an iphone and has some magsafe stuff that i've dabbled in, but haven't looked too much into, so in anticipation of my s25 ultra (ngl... a sizeable reason i wanted to upgrade was due to this being potentially interesting).
The first case i'm testing is RAPTIC Mondrian Case for Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra Compatible with MagSafe, Non-Slip & Slim Light Touch Feeling 600D&1500D Aramid Fiber Made Galaxy S25 Ultra Case, 6.8 inch
testing with a qi2 puck.

gives me a 10w reading.
the other case i got was Spigen Rugged Armor MagFit Designed for Galaxy S25 Ultra Case [Fast Wireless Charging/Magnet for Galaxy] (2025) - Matte Black
on the amazon page it mentions its compatible with qi2. Didn't think too much about it but... it does do its thing.

And as a reference, here is the 15w wireless charger that samsung sold for a while, weird proprietary stuff that only first party samsung wireless chargers can get 15w wireless for samsung phones since around the note 10? Most 3rd party wireless chargers can only do max 10w on samsung phones.

the caviat is... ive seen qi2 charging on the aramid case once today... but i coudln't reproduce it again... maybe qi2 speced case is more precise with the magnet placement and size? No clue. Need more data.
Some other stuff to be wary about. Amazon as expected is full of fake crap and certs or maybe qi2 is nonsense atm?
This charger. InfinaCore Magnetic Wireless Mag-Safe Desk Phone Charger, 15W Fast Qi2 Certified Wireless Phone Charger Stand for iPhone 16/15/14/13/12 Pro/Max/Plus
I couldn't trigger the faster charging at all. always the 10w profile of 2 hr remaining with the spigen case. https://i.imgur.com/c6Fx4YS.jpeg
Also bought this magnetic charger for the car. Magnetic for Car Charger (360° Large Suction Cup and Aluminum Alloy Telescopic Arm Extended), True 15W Fast Charging, Compatible with iPhone 16/15/14/13/12 Series, for Dashboard/Windshield

Same issue, but tbf the listing doesn't mention any qi2 certs. just it supports magnets and up to 15w charging... so idk.
Think for now, spigen probably is the most reliable besides samsung's official magnet case which i think is qi2 ready, but its currently oos. Haven't looked at every case website if others mention qi2 support. qi2 itself is kinda iffy and i can't really rely on amazon listings for chargers and battery packs. So yea... look for cases that mention qi2. look for chargers that mention it. 'magsafe ready' doesn't mean anything.
This whole thing is a mess and im just one guy spending out of pocket. Really wish the tech reviewers even bothered testing this. Easier to list out things that the cases that work, the chargers, battery packs etcc.
edit:
Some more cases came in:
Temdan Magnetic for Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra Case, [Innovate Stand][Military Grade Drop Protection][Non Slip][Translucent Matte] Shockproof Phone Case for Galaxy S25 Ultra 6.9" 2025 -Black
this... worked well with qi2 specs?? No mention. I think im starting to get whats going on here. Needs a very specific connection between the magnets for it to be ok. qi2 cases obviously offer that.
Another one I got...
Spigen Tough Armor (Ai) MagFit Designed for Galaxy S25 Ultra Case [Kickstand] [Wireless Charging] (2025) - Black
One of the rare spigen magnet cases that doesn't mention qi2... and now I know why. I'm getting slow wireless charging when plugged into my qi2 battery bank, maybe its too thick?
Whats interesting is my 15w samsung wireless charger still gives me full fast charging speeds though.
Guess qi2 is just way more strict.
