Books from non-Western countries depicting the every day life and culture

I'm looking for books that aren't set in big, western countries (mainly USA/UK) that depict the every day life and cultural norms of society and in particular that showcase differences between those cultures and Western society.

For example, I'm reading Welcome to the Hyunam-Dong Bookshop and I'm enjoying feeling like I'm immersed in the every day life of that society.

A bonus would be books that have a philosophical element or have nature or food as a theme. Not looking for anything majorly dark or violent.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
