What would be my cheapest Synology option to get a 10 Gbit NAS with an SSD?
Hello everyone,
I'd like to have a NAS in my 10 Gbit home network where I'd be able to copy files to the NAS with at least 5 Gbit/s speed, ideally 10 Gbit/s.
What would be the cheapest Synology option for me in these 2 cases:
- If I'm fine with SATA SSD
- If I want to fully utilize 10 Gbit/s by using an NVME SSD in the NAS
Thank you.
UPD. I've decided that at this point it's too expensive and difficult to get 5 - 10 Gbit/s for file transfers. I don't really need a full dedicated NAS, so I've decided I'll get a Netgear RAX120 router, that, according to benchmarks, can provide 250 Mb/s reads and 187 Mb/s writes with an attached external SSD. And with this set up I will wait until 5 - 10 Gb/s file transfers in home network will become inexpensive and simple to implement.
UPD2. Here's what I got with Netgear RAX120 router + attached external SSD vs local (internal) HDD:
I think it's a pretty good result for investing $80 in a used router.
