How hard is it to get a federal job?
Disclaimer: I am still in school (B.S. Comp Sci est. May 2024)
I really want to work for the government but sometimes I feel like it's an unrealistic goal for me. I'm not military, I've not had any relevant work experience, and I don't go to a top university and it lacks ABET certification but I do have OK grades. It could also be that I am only a junior and companies are really only wanting to hire seniors. It could be because the job market sucks right now.
Is it realistic for me to think I can get a federal job or should I keep my expectations in check. I am open to studying a masters degree if it can help me get a federal job.
