Yesterday I ate 44g net carbs. Today I tested positive for ketones!

I recently experienced severe bloating and at one point my belly more or less exploded shortly after drinking a beer which made me think I might have a yeast problem in my intestine. Also I’ve been struggling to loose weight so I thought with keto I might adress both problems since a low carb diet is key to fighting yeast, in addition to medication.

So I just recently started with keto and I’m keeping it vegetarian. I’m not really a veggie but I do try to limit my meat intake and the high meat consumption in omni keto is a huge turn off for me. I am tracking my eating and found that due to eating so many greens (paired with oil of course) I am overshooting my net carb allowance big time. Like my app says I should stay at 19 max and I’m regularly over 30. yesterday it was 44, more than twice as many carbs! So I made a post feeling bummed and thought well, maybe it’s just low carb for me without the benefit of keto :( But I’ve been noticing a lot of thirst and a lot of peeing. Just googled it and apparently that’s a sign of ketosis? Grabbed a stick and fair enough!! I am in keto! I tried extended fasting before and for the same keto state I normally have to fast 36hrs! Do you know how miserable I feel during extended fasting, lol. And that it’s just for a short amount of time that I am in ketosis because I’m not there at 30hrs and after 36 I just want my damn food, thank you.

I remember that Dr. Fung and Dr. Lustig keep saying that the (net) carbs from eating veggies won’t have the same effect on your insulin as eating the same amount white sugar. Also carbs combined with fats will make for a slower insulin response. People in that thread affirmed that, too. And it seems to be right! I’m just so happy right now, lol. Sure, keto eating doesn’t trigger the happy hormones in me the way carbs do. And I am still to find recipes that I find indulgent as opposed to just being satiating. Also I need to look into that electrolytes thing because that thirst is not normal, lol. But overall I am very happy to see that I can eat as many greens as I like and keep being in keto :) Might be that me still doing IF is helping in that regard. Whatever, it’s working :) Next goal is to not weigh myself because that’s where I get discouraged quickly.
