Curious about if this is worth it

So, I joined a while ago. Honestly never played a game like this before, but ended up enjoying it.

Unfortunately, we have a whale in our state who is so far above every other player that he can do and say whatever he wants and there's just...nothing anyone can do about it.

I get it's a pay to win game, but where's the fun if one guy can zero out the whole state everytime he's having a bad day?

We were joking around in wc (nothing bad, just joking amongst ourselves) and he literally messaged us and told us to stay out of wc or else. Like, what? We can't...talk...now?

What's the point in playing when everything you've built and spent for can be curb stomped by one erratic player? Is it really worth playing this game long term? Just wondering if I should quit now if this is the experience across the board. Already invested time and money, but seems pointless when one person's mood decides everybody else's experience / ability to interact.
